Uruguay challenges Cloud Gaming giants with Uruguayan Gaming startup

ABYA®, a company born in Uruguay, offers a cloud gaming service that allows users to play their favorite games in real time and with the best quality from almost any device connected to the web, launched its public beta in May 2019.

For a small monthly fee, subscribers won't have to pay hundreds or thousands of dollars to buy the latest high-performance console or computer. As easy as watching a movie on Netflix, users can enjoy the latest games, with the best resolution and minimum latency on any device, from their old smartphones to smart-TVs with large 4K screens.

This small startup competes with giants like Microsoft, Sony, Google and Nvidia to capture a part of the new and rapidly growing cloud gaming market.

In addition to attracting "hard-core" gamers, ABYA is positioned to appeal to millions of casual gamers, who don't want to or can't spend on high-end consoles or computers, but would love to pay top-notch, graphic-quality games on their current phones and computers.

ABYA is led by Franco Miceli, CEO, former R&D leader at Pan Ceibal; Waldemar Fernández, President, who has publicly listed several companies, including Interland, today Web.com (WWWW); and Nicolás Jodal, through the Company Builder ThalesLab. ABYA is currently beginning its first investment round.
